A Winter Wedding for $5K or Less
Who says that you have to break the bank when you plan a wedding? Anyone that spends more than two or three
thousand dollars on a wedding, just is not thinking clearly! Not everyone has a bank roll to spend on a wedding and
the good news is that you do not need one. With some careful planning and some legwork of your own, it is a
possibility to have a winter wedding for less than $5K and here is how to do it.
Plan Ahead---Way Ahead:
The first bit of advice for anyone that wants to save a bundle on a wedding is to plan well in advance. That means
a year or even more. When you plan ahead you have several advantages. First of all, you can have all the time you
need to shop around for the best prices. You shop all year long to look for bargain prices, whether you are looking
for your dress or your reception decorations.
If you are planning a winter wedding, especially one around the holidays, you can shop right after Christmas, the
year before your wedding and pick up dirt cheap Christmas decorations to use for your wedding. Forget about using
expensive floral arrangements. Use what is in season and get them when they go on clearance. When you plan ahead
you also have prime choice in dates and venues. This gives you some bargaining power from the very beginning. You
won’t have to pay the higher prices to get in a good date.
Do it Yourself:
The next tip to save thousands is to do it yourself or enlist the help of those you trust. For example, why pay
hundreds of dollars on expensive invitations when you can make your own. Get your best gal friends together one
evening and get busy. The same is true for planning the details of your wedding. You don’t necessarily need a
wedding planner. Hiring one can cost you thousands. Why do you need someone else to tell you what you want? You
already know your likes and dislikes, so put yourself in charge. You can do the same thing with catering. Get your
best friend to help you make finger sandwiches and other foods. Forget about the alcohol, too. That will really add
up when you are keeping a low budget. Have your wedding earlier in the day when it is not a meal time and then you
can get away with not serving a full course meal.
Think Outside the Box:
When you want to save thousands on a wedding, now is the time to think outside the box. If you are looking for a
wedding venue, then keep your eyes open for unusual places that do not cost a lot. How about booking at your local
community theater? Or using the church where you are already members? A local park might be a great place, too.
Forget about the expensive wedding places—instead opt for the places that people might not consider. The same holds
true for every other aspect of your wedding. Do not get too set in your ways. Instead, keep your eyes and your mind
open to new possibilities and you may just find a perfect place to have a wedding that will not cost you a bundle
of money.
Have a Short List:
When you get married, you want your loved ones to celebrate with you. However, the longer you make your guest list,
the more money you will need to spend. A wedding should be for those that are closest to you. Keep that in mind
when you make your guest list and cut out your elementary school friend that you have not seen in years.
